To walk the spiritual
path one needs balance, just like walking a tight rope with a stick. To achieve
this, one needs to work diligently on the astral/emotional body.
Our physical body appears
to be wrapped up in emotional/astral, mental, causal and spiritual bodies. These
are nothing but energy fields surrounding the physical body. These energies
interpenetrate the physical body and form the aura around it.
The emotional body,
comprising our conscious mind and memory, is a store house of our emotions and
life’s desires. The quality of energy is highly dependent on our emotional
state. Anger, guilt, jealousy, pride, depression, fear etc. create grosser
energies whilst energies during states of joy, love, peace, happiness etc. are
subtler in nature.
In today’s day and age,
emotions play a major role in shaping our lives. We have a tendency to react to
a situation rather than responding to it. As a result, we oscillate between
extremes of good and bad. We are at our wits end, shouting, screaming; a wave
of rage, irritation and frustration governs us. All these reactions affect our
emotional body, making the energies grosser.
Every emotion has an
evil twin. To name a few :– calm – anger, faith – doubt, joy – sadness, love –
hate, active – lazy. So if you are depressed, cheer up, inspire yourself.
Balance the opposites and generate steadfastness. Positive alteration of the
energy can be brought about by the use of simple words of joy, peace, love
directed towards your heart and solar plexus. These areas are responsible for
emoting. Directing these words repeatedly at these centers will create a habit
of positive thoughts/affirmations and a positive change in behavior.
However, every emotion
has its own purpose --- they teach us the lessons of life. That is to say when
a situation repeatedly crops up and you react in the same way, then it is not
your trying period but in reality it is a signal for you to stop, go within and
reminisce. You should look for the positives hidden in the negatives.
Disciplining our
emotions brings in balance and helps us overcome unwanted stimuli. Staying focused
brings in stability. You may fail once, twice, thrice, it may take months or
maybe years, but do not give up.
Because
Failure is an opportunity to start all over again…..
